                                     M Tech Admission

IITB Experience:
IITB announces cutoff GATE score for each department and specialization after GATE result.
Candidates have to directly apply to IITB through their website.Good thing about IITB is they will call you to the written test and interview if you have GATE score more than cutoff score mentioned by them so that you will get opportunity to present yourself in front of them.
I heard only IITB and IITK follow these procedures for civil m tech admission unlike other IIT's  which intake students based directly on GATE score.
So even if you have low GATE rank you can apply to these institutes . If you perform well in written test and interview you have good chance of getting admission irrespective of GATE rank.

Exam type: Written Test followed by Personal Interview

Written Test:
Written test consists of around 30 multiple choice questions from specialization we opted with some maths and aptitude concepts.
For Ocean engineering specialization we had 30 questions each carrying +1 mark . Negative answer will result in loss of 1 mark for each question.
All the technical questions were from Fluid Mechanics including Dimensional Analysis.
They will shortlist around 40 people to interview based on your written test performance.

Personal Interview:
Personal Interview will be for short duration and they ask question from subjects related to their specialization and our final year BE project.

Written Test pattern is different for different specialization. In structures and Geo tech specialization questions will be descriptive. In Transportation , Water resource and Ocean engineering it is multiple choice type.

Applying to IITB M Tech admission  is worth and even low rankers have good chance of screening in provided you perform well in written test and interview.

ALL THE BEST!!

M TECH ADMISSION DRAMA!!!!

M TECH ADMISSION DRAMA!!!!

IIT EXPERIANCE

1) IIT MADRAS
I did not apply for civil engineering department because you dont get seat in civil department in IITM unless you have rank within 200. So I applied to Department of ocean engineering @ IITM and got call from department to attend suitability test/interview @ IITM campus.

Exam type: There was nothing...simply they asked our interest in their department to write in application form and subjects what we learned in BE course. After visiting their lab , we had to come back to native place and waited for result. Final selection is based on GATE score. So if you have rank more than 1000 ; applying to IITM is simply waste of your money and time; but if you want to visit IITM once and wanted to change your profile picture in facebook or watsapp by standing infront of IITM entrance then you can apply...:)

Hyderabad Days .

In India it is unwritten rule that every child born in typical middle class family has to take competitive exam at least once in lifetime.(Of course their parents want them to become either engineer or doctor ). Because of this tendency there has been tremendous growth in teaching (coaching) sector in last decade. It may be in pre university level or in under graduate level one has to be a participant of blind rat race !
I had to became part of this race when I attempted GATE exam in 2015.There were hardly 120 days left for GATE exam when I decided to do my masters and I eventually stepped into my shoes. So what does one do when he has less time ? obviously I had to choose one of the coaching institute.
I picked up ACE institute for my operation and went to Hyderabad.
HYDERABAD
Then that 120 days of your life.. ufff.. you will never forget that days very easily. You will learn almost everything that is required for leading engineered life!. Leave technical content what they teach there , you will get to know the importance of money, time, friendship, aptitude, attitude, management of things and what not?.
After all huffing and puffing I finally gone ''through ' GATE and secured rank which could fetch me seat in leading colleges of country.
YES I did it and but not in style. Initially I thought I can score very good rank but after all that exam and all I had  to realize that I really do not fit here in topper list.[you will have thousand reasons for that :) ]. I was like Ireland team in cricket world cup. you might  have performed well in your circle and you might have defeated some great teams in past but to come here and play against top class teams in world stage is different . If you cant properly manage the time and situation you have to get eliminated in knock out games !!!.
Other than studies I barely gave my time to any other activities. You know what I did not play or watched cricket for five loong months. Shit ..I cant imagine all those things now because I rarely missed the opportunity of playing or watching cricket in my life.
I never uesd facebook or watsapp there except in two or three occasions and after all I got such type of result.
Anyway I believe in the words " Do your KARMA and KARMA has its own way of giving it back".
So experience and enjoy each phase of your life.
Signing off now...
